 What Our Customers Are Saying

"Although it’s only been 3-4 trips, each one had outstanding qualities and service, expertise and time on the water are so important for someone like me who does not get out like he’d like to. My family and I have great memories including my then 12 yr old twin sons first ever steelhead (they are now 20 and Jrs in college). A 3 steelhead fish day for me with you on the Lewiston in a 100 plus heat (didn’t know they would even bite in that heat). And a day with your colleague 2 summers ago that started on the Columbia for steelhead, but the wind blew and the bite was so tough we had to pack it all in and trailer over to the Lewis for an outstanding afternoon of salmon and steelhead for my then 18 yr old son and our 14 yr old nephew who caught his first ever salmon and steelhead that afternoon with a total of 5 fish. You can use me as a reference anytime."

"Just wanted to say thanks again for a great 3-day trip. We all agreed you were the friendliest, most knowledgeable, and most service-minded fishing guide we've had in our many years of fishing trips up and down the North American continent. I hope that we can book another trip with you in the future. I'm attaching a few pics from our trip, including I'm sure, the only one with an i-Pad in the background! All the best for your business and to your family."

"I just wanted to tell you that we had a very good time Saturday, and that I’m glad that we were able to get Staci her first salmon. At least you make the trip enjoyable even when the fish aren't biting. We would like to book another trip with you, but not sure for what."
Thanks a lotJason
"I just wanted to let you know what a fantastic day we had yesterday! The weather was awesome the “catching” was beyond belief, and you were terrific! The heat on the boat helped in the morning until the sun took over, and we could not have asked for a better guide! Thank you so very much."

"I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the guide referral for our Columbia River salmon fishing trip. Booking with Top Guides NW was wonderful. Erik was friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining. He has a first rate boat and first rate equipment. He has a great sense of humor and interacted wonderfully with my customer. Erik is one of those rare guides who obviously likes people as much as he likes guiding and this was obvious throughout the trip. As an added bonus, all of our group caught multiple large King Salmon, and several in our group caught Coho Salmon as well. We ended up delivering over 250 lb of fish to be processed and sent home. On the Lewis River many catch and release King Salmon were caught in both boats. I was fortunate enough to land a King that weighed over 20 lbs, and one of my party landed a catch and release King Salmon that was over 40 lb. Because our group was too large to be accommodated in one boat, we had to book two guides. Both guides were enthusiastic and very knowledgeable of both the Columbia and Lewis Rivers. Our party thought the world of both of them and would book another trip with Top Guides NW without hesitation. One factor that I did not consider when booking this trip was safety. Being from West Texas I had no knowledge of how large the Columbia River really is or how strong the currents and tidal action are. I also did not know that the Columbia was a navigable waterway for sea going vessels. Additionally, the hog lines that naturally crop up create a crowded fishing situation with many boats anchored side-by-side. I was in Erik’s boat on one day, and Justin’s boat another morning. At no time did I ever feel unsafe. I actually realized early on just how much better both of our guides were able to negotiate the crowded conditions safely than some of the private fishermen around us. Erik draws a bit of a crowd when he drops anchor and he handles this with the patience of an oyster. I intend to bring my daughters back in the summer for Steelhead. I would recommend Top Guides NW to anyone."
