Sturgeon can grow to over 10 feet in length and weight well over 500 pounds.  When hooked many Sturgeon come up from the depths and fight on top of the water making multiple jumps.   Have you exer experienced a 500 pound fish jump completly out of the water?  It is an amazing experience.

Depending on the year Fish and Wildlife will allow you to keep certain size fish.  Make sure you understand the current rules and regulations when it comes to fishing for Sturgeon becuase the fines are significant if you keep a fish during a time you are not allowed.

Most of the year Sturgeon fishing is allowed on a Catch and release basis.  During this times the most popular type of Sturgeon fishing is for the “oversized” Sturgeon.   This is amazing fun becuase an oversized Sturgeon many times becomes a party fish,  taking many hours to land and many fishermen on the rod and reel to get it in.
